Ruth Kemble writes with an update on the campaign to get allotments in Audlem: "Following the well-attended Allotments meeting in January, the list of people interested in having an allotment now stands at 56. The bid to Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council for funding towards the purchase of land was not successful.

"Christine Johnson and I have been co-opted onto a Parish Council working group which will be looking at finding the land and its purchase – the Council representatives are Cllr Philip Bradbury- Smith and one other. The first meeting now has to be arranged.

"We – that is D.A.H.L.I.A. – have been invited to have a display stand at the Annual Parish Meeting on March 4th. This will take place in the Public Hall from 7.30pm. We do hope that lots of potential "Allotmenteers" will turn out "in force" – 56 are a lot of people all together! If you are able to come and there is an attendance sheet, please will you put 'allotments' after your name.

"The Voting Papers to elect the committee members are being distributed to all those involved in D.A.H.L.I.A. – there are fifteen candidates for the eight-strong committee and we will publish the full list of the Committee as soon as we know it.

"If you have an queries or suggestions (particularly if you have any ideas about the land) or you just want to talk about allotments in general please don't hesitate to contact Christine on 01270 811774 or by email to christmjdill@aol.com">christmjdill@aol.com or me on 01270 811887 or email to czarptc@hotmail.com">czarptc@hotmail.com
