Among threats to our community's long-term vibrancy are climate change and reducing oil supplies – it's surprising how many of our activities depend on oil.

Our local transition group is part of a wider transition movement to help communities take steps now to adjust to life in the future without oil and lower carbon emissions – before changes are forced on us.

You don't have to be concerned about oil running out or climate change to join the Transition Group's activities. We're just as concerned about other threats to our community's long-term sustainability:

  • lack of local job
  • lack of housing for young families
  • loss of local shops and services
  • dependency on distant suppliers of food and energy
  • loss of self-sufficiency skills.
Also about other issues affecting community well-being, like the volume of traffic, especially long-distance heavy goods vehicles.

Come and find out what we are doing from 12.00noon on Saturday 24th October at the Scout & Guide Hall in Audlem. Be part of the change – create a new future.

The programme on Saturday includes two showings of the climate blockbuster film, The Age of Stupid. The film has been highly rated by the News of the World, The Telegraph, The Financial Times and The Times. One national newspaper said: "You won't see a more important film this year":

Programme:

12.00 – 2.00pm – Display about creating a vibrant, low carbon, sustainable community.
2.00 – 4.00pm – Film showing of The Age of Stupid.
4.00 – 7.30pm – Display about creating a vibrant, low carbon, sustainable community.
7.30 – 9.30pm – Film showing of Age of Stupid.
