Sunday October 23rd

A miserable morning after seeing Match of the day on BBC 1 -- with Liverpool being beaten by Nottingham Forest. The shame of it -- after we had beaten Man City last week.
But. The weather was still so kind on Saturday. Have spent time planting some 60 tulip bulbs for next year. Very strong and healthy looking bulbs. Next labouring task is to scrub the garage floor now that the MG 2+2 MGB has gone to a new home. This in readiness for the comeback of my Austin Healey 3000 from being restored to mint condition by Andrew Jones. Want to paint the floor once I have fully degreased it and tidied up as much as I am able. And in chucking away stuff .
Will be a back braking job, but it is needed.
Skeins of geese aplenty, honking their way overhead. Back and forth they fly in their lovely "V" shaped formations. A truly wonderful sight to see, and to hear.

And so to Football

On paper a goodly number of players fit for the game. Which is versus Lions F C . A team we have never ever faced.
Referee is Michael Jasinski .
Coop croissants bought. To the pitch on a miserable wet morning, with forecast of much more before 11.00 .
Changing rooms checked and all clean and warm . We are so so proud of the public hall annexe -- opened 5 years ago now by the High Sheriff of Cheshire.
Opponents arrive in dribs and drabs .
Our side all up for the game. Kev Rodgers and Rachel Anderson missing as they are away on their "getting engaged " weekend . Big congratulations from all of us to two very lovely people .

But then......

At 09.00 to 09.15 I drive to the playing ground. Puddles everywhere. Pitch soaking. Ross Henderson of our management team with me. Video sent to referee and the decision is to defer the game. Messages to opponents and our players. Inform league secretary and senior referee
Sad but sensible, as such a muddy slimy surface could well invite broken bones and twisted ankles. .
So back home. To set to and scrub the garage floor. Moving and storing tools etc.

Leaves falling so fast now , as we race into winter.
Ross Henderson back after serving a three match ban. A ban that is the subject of a very strong appeal with the league following a poor refereeing action .
Good he is back , as his input very important to us as he bosses the right wing, but thwarted by the weather .

Hey ho.
