Match report for Audlem F C November 24th

Just preparing and serving breakfast to 4 big builders who are to work here on my barn conversions for the next 6 months or so -- had to as the 3 porta cabins for accommodation, bedrooms, kitchen and toilets did not arrive until the 22nd . (And now here and sited on my front lawn. ) and as I cooked sausages , eggs , black pudding et al , I wondered what we did to mop up used oil in the days before kitchen rolls !. Taken for granted now .

To the football, and now on days when the trees have all but shed their summer majesty and leaves piled up ( see the photo of my garden's pile of countless gatherings) we play at home versus a team named The Ark , from Winsford way . Top of the league team so we could be in for a drubbing.

On paper a very good turn out of players even allowing for some away on holiday or to concerts . Another headache for Manager Kev Rodgers in deciding who begins the match.

Alan Husher our Referee for the game and he is always welcome as a good official .
Men arrive in good time but The Ark has late comers.

Bells ringing out from the Church Tower. The new flag of St George flying bravely atop. Folks arriving on the Sunday finery for a christening. Weather good. No wind. What a village we have here .

And Sunday football of course.

KICK OFF

1103 Referee Husher blows up a tad late allowing for late plater of our opponents.
Away we go . Normal first fast pace as each side tests each other . And gets into their stride. The Ark team full of talk as they warn each other of "man on"

1110
Foul on our goalie Connor Baxter and wham -- they score .
0-1

Corner to them as they press hard . They are very strong and very well organised in positional play .

1120
0-2

They score again . Very good strike that had CB beaten .

We are in for a drubbing Sitting as they do at the top of the league and having players who I believe may have played for higher league teams before joining our Sunday League set up.
It is a bit akin to Liverpool F C playing Crewe in terms of balance and experience .

But we are trying our best and certainly showing lots of fight.

Great chance for us but no goal .Should have buried it but their goalie is very good.
Thomas Capewell taken down heavily and is now injured as he tries to carry on. He has to come off with a very damaged back and on comes Trevor McDowell .

Play a bit scrappy now .

Language loud in the Ark players but not foul stuff. Our side very silent. Corner after corner to them . No goals . We get a corner as we bravely attack in numbers. A great chance of a goal for Nathan Miskelly but he fires wide. . Best chance so far for us .

Referee blows up for half time and he blows up five minutes early!

Kev Rodgers has a go at the men as he strives to give them confidence.

SECOND HALF

We get a free kick close to the box. But no gain. A period of scrappy play as each side seeks to dominate.

Danny Mahoney comes on

1210
Such a soft easy goal given away as they plant the ball in our net.
0-3

Andrew "Beko" Betteley on. And Joe Benson. Great shot by Joe but goalie saves. Our second good chance -gone.

Another goal
0-4

Kev Mort on -- after driving through the night from a Rainband Concert to be with us. A very dedicated member of our team.

Game over and we have been well beaten .

On balance we did deserve a goal. One notable thing ,. We were very silent in all the game -- in complete comparison to our opponents who never stopped giving direction and warning.

Players troop off . Compliments from The Ark on our fantastic facilities.

Man of the Match for our team as chosen by them is Kev Rodgers.

Next game is on the 2nd- versus White Lion at home.
