Under the heading Audlem's thriving village, the Market Drayton Advertiser features two of the village's recently opened shops.

Winston Brown, the Advertiser's journalist who is a frequent visitor to village events, says shopping in Audlem continues to thrive with the opening of the two new shops in the village.

Ladies fashion and gift shop Mandi Boo in Shropshire Street is celebrating its first month of trading, with owner Mandy Nickson having received a warm welcome from villagers and traders.

Hoc's Fat Pigeon in Cheshire Street was opened in March by Ian Haughey who left his banking job after 10 years to run the shop selling organic and Fairtrade products.

Audlem has seen five new shops plus the new branch of the Coffee Lounge at Overwater Marina open in the past six months, possibly the fastest ever expansion of retail in the village's history.

The Advertiser is out today and the story is also carried on the newspaper's website.
