ADCA Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

ADCA is Celebrating the Platinum Jubilee!

Oh yes, we are! With a big celebration event planned in the wonderful, newly refurbished Town Hall on 4th June for our members, carers and volunteers where we will be entertained by Audlem Theatre Company and Audlem Voices followed by afternoon tea.

So, in due course, watch out for flags, collages and displays outside the Town Hall entrance which members and carers are now preparing. You may also spot ADCA people arriving for the event in their 1950s finery including magnificent hats. Most of our members can remember the Coronation in 1953 even though some of us were only three at the time! So, we are digging out our old photographs so we can play 'Spot Who It Is'.

And the really good news is that ADCA has now received a grant from the Arts Council towards the costs, including for the payment of entertainers and for the catering. The grant will also help fund staff and volunteer costs incurred in running the event.

It is good that the Arts Council have recognized that ADCA can provide cultural and artistic services in our community and that we have such a marvellous facility to use in both the Town Hall and the Annexe. This doesn't mean we are now able to exhibit our paintings in the National Gallery as has been suggested by one wag.

But it does mean we can book one of the most outstanding choirs in Cheshire bursting with local vocal talents alongside our very own local theatre group with a deserved reputation for innovation. It also means we will be working on paintings, poetry, new songs and collages containing old photos which will be on display in the Annexe Foyer after our celebration event for all to come and have look at.
