Audlem and District Community Action (ADCA) is looking for two or more new volunteer drivers to boost its pool of drivers as a result of imminent retirements.
We are looking for people, men and women, who are in good health, own their own car and have a current, clean driving licence. Our volunteers are friendly, interested in helping people and are confident driving a vehicle with one or more older persons as passengers.
There is a rota for drivers taking members to and from our Day Club, which runs every Tuesday in the Public Hall Annexe. The normal commitment is for around an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, one Tuesday a month – though if you would like to do more days, we would be delighted!
ADCA will provide an induction and relevant training and will arrange and pay for enhanced DBS checks. Mileage expenses will also be reimbursed.
Our members, many of whom are isolated, elderly people with no realistic transport alternative, really appreciate and value the work of all our volunteers, not least the drivers who enable them to attend the Day Club that is often a highlight of their week.
If you would like to find out more about becoming a volunteer driver for ADCA, please contact Tracey Humphries, ADCA's Development Co-ordinator, on 07845 495973, or email her at tlhumphries@outlook.com.
