ADAS Workplan volunteers welcome!

ADAS volunteers have been out in the village over recent weeks working on planting and tidying tasks, luckily in quite warm weather, but which also means more watering work.

We have had three planting sessions which involved taking out winter/spring plants and adding summer planting to the perennials in the tubs and troughs The last session was planting and putting up the hanging baskets (as seen in recent AOL article of us outside the Shroppie pub).

We have also held three village tidying sessions. This involved:

  • weeding and sweeping the village centre and up Cheshire street to and including the toilet block.
  • work has commenced on cutting back nettles on the paths from Churchfields to Cheshire street.
  • cutting the grass on the triangles at the end of Broadways, (no it wasn't Cheshire East contractors!), and filling five bags with cuttings rather than leaving them on the grass. The photographs show the before and after state. The next work here will be to cut the edges of the triangles which is a spade, brush and shovel task.

Dates and times for the next village tidying sessions are below. Please come along and meet at the Buttermarket. Vis-vests will be provided if you haven t got one.

  • Tuesday 10th June – 18.00 to 19.30
  • Tuesday 17th June – 18.00 to 19.30
  • Sunday 22nd June – 10.00 to 12.00
  • Tuesday 24th June – 18.00 to 19.30
  • Sunday 29th June – 10.00 to 12.00
  • Tuesday 1st July – 18.00 – 19.30

Activities will include sweeping, weeding, cutting back grass verges at Windmill Drive and cleaning signs in the village e.g. road signs. Tools required are typically wheelbarrow, hand gardening tools, shovel, spade, brush and bucket/sponge if you wish to wash village signs.

If you can t make all of a session, no problem, all time volunteered to keep the village tidy is appreciated.

If you are able to help with watering the village plants over the summer please contact us at the email address below.
