ADAS volunteers

Doing head-counts of volunteers is best carried out when we all sit down for a coffee-break (with chocolate, of course) because they move so fast.

Sunday saw us taking on two new village projects -- one being the garden at the Public Hall, the other, the garden around the Doctors' surgery. Given the fantastic number of volunteers, we were able to split into two groups and make a start on both projects in one session.

Over at the 'flat garden' the group made short work of striping back weeds, unwanted material and unearthing a very large rock. ADAS does Time-Team!

At the Doctors garden, the group waded through nettles, weeds and masses of Sycamore seedlings. We found the odd toothbrush (!) a beer can and a football -- oh yes, and some wonderful worms. The soil is fabulous over there.

One of our main issues has always been what to do with all the material that we remove -- many of us have filled up our own compost bins along the way, but this was proving unsustainable. Thankfully, we will soon take ownership of a big shiny ADAS bin.

Once again, a big shout out of thanks for all our volunteers.

Many thanks
