ADAS tulip planting

This week we will be planting some 800 tulips around the village and in Buerton.

These are to provide the splashes of colour to greet the Spring of 2013 from April onwards and so enhance the surroundings which can do much to aid trade in the village shops.

Fresh compost and feed will be used to try to ensure a truly good display.

It is interesting to note that the Tulip arrived in Europe – to Holland – from Turkey and places there abouts. The price of a single bulb in 1637 reached 10 times the then yearly income of a skilled craftsman as a frenzy took place in trading the bulbs in Amsterdam.

Happily, today we have a prime cost of £240 for the bulbs – then a good discount from that – so we can cover the costs from your ADAS subscriptions over the year.

We hope all will enjoy our forward planning and greet the tall stems with pleasure next year.
