We are now fast moving into the very busy time for all of us on the Executive Committee of ADAS as we near the Festive Season.

Next week we will be selecting the big tree from a private plantation that has been the source of the trees over the past 10 years or so. Hopefully we will select a good one.

Then, on the 24th, we harvest the tree early in the morning, with Richard Furber once again providing the transportation after Pete Hollinshead – a trained tree surgeon – fells the tree.

Then at circa 10.00am, we erect the tree in the Square where it will be for the next few weeks. The dressing of the tree with some 5000 pea lights gets going then by Mike Haines assisted by Pete driving the cherry picker.

In addition to this, seven mature trees will be dressed and lit so that each road into the village gives a festive welcome to all.

In tandem to this activity, some 50 small trees will be dressed in my barns at Buerton in readiness for placing on all the brackets, enhancing the shops and business premises in the village. Again all by the members of the ADAS committee.

#November 29th – The BigSwitch On Night.
St James' School children will arrive in the Square to enjoy the celebrations with FASA holding a tombola under the Buttermarket. Audlem Hammers young footballers will be singing carols in the coachway of William's shop

The Sponsors of the Big Tree, Louisa & Martin Balaam and their children, will throw the switch to light up the big tree and then Santa – organised by ADAS  - will arrive on the canal wharf, helped in glorious fashion by the Audlem Lass and her  team.

You can light a candle to float – in aid of the Royal Lifeboat Institution – on the canal ahead of Santa as he sails into view.

All the traders of the village will be open on the night with lots of attractions and games. A really happy family night in the best Christmas Village of all Cheshire.
