After 2 weekends of Apple pressing for the community, we juiced all apples provided. If anyone has more to juice then the manual masher, press and tubs are available for hire.
With the weather starting to get chillier the garden produce is dwindling, but its the still the autumn harvesting season and we have been busy collecting damsons, apples, crab apples, quinces for making jams, marmalades, jellies and chutneys. There will be a good selection to choose from on Saturday.
The hens are still laying well, the eating apples and cooking apples are still plentiful. A new batch of hedgerow honey has been settled and poured into jars. It is dark and very fragrant.
With the evenings drawing in, its a perfect time to pick up some beeswax candles which give a comforting glow with no smoke or petroleum fumes.
Late entries on the market for potatoes, small edible pumpkins, and maybe Jerusalem artichokes
