ADAPT Saturday market.

Saturday 19th July under the Buttermarket.

For those of you in our community with apple trees, mine are heavily laden with their fruit crop, the trees have naturally shed their excess in the June Drop but some varieties still produce too many small apples on each fruiting tip. So here s a tip. Snap off the smallest or the ones with damage that are causing the over-crowding ,effectively thinning out the apples to allow a better quality harvest. I then pick these up and any that have recently brown off in the wind and put them in a closed compost bin to deter the wasps from being attracted to the garden en-masse. With our mild winter and early warm Spring the wasps have had a very good year and there are many nests locally. In the Spring they do a good job and eat many greenfly and other small insects but later in the year they become a pest.

We encourage people to grow their own produce, shop locally and leave their cars at home if they can and recycle as much as they can for a more sustainable future.

On the market this week we will have sweet peas, lettuce, apple juice, red currants, new potatoes, Free range eggs, coffee cake, Coconut & lime drizzle cake, possibly lavender biscuits if the rain eases, Blackcurrant cordial, Redcurrant jelly, Taster jars of mango conserve, Few bunches of French and runner beans, fingers crossed, a selection of jams, marmalades and local honey. Also a selection of plants for the garden.

The market starts at 10am and finishes at noon under Audlem's Buttermarket, come rain or shine.
