A number of readers have asked if Audlem Online has received any information about the accident on the A525 on Wednesday morning which involved a casualty being taken away by Air Ambulance.

We are told that at 8.57am on Wednesday, the police received a report of a collision on the A525 Woore Road at its junction with Hankins Heys Lane. One vehicle was involved and the driver was trapped in the vehicle.

He was freed from it and airlifted to North Staffs hospital. The driver was injured, but his injuries were described as not serious or life changing.

At 6.05pm the same day, the police received a report of a large pothole on the A525 "half way between Buerton and Woore". This information was immediately passed on to the highways department. The pothole has since been repaired.

We are also told there's nothing that would suggest a pothole being a causal factor in the earlier accident.
