Congratulations to Mike Wilson for winning the 2010 National Criterium championships.

Mike competed in the League of Veteran Racing Cyclist's event comprising of a field of 25 seasoned amateur cyclists. Mike's sprinting power sealed his win out maneuvering his fellow escapee as he launched into a Mark Cavendish-esque lunge for the line.

The race was over a short circuit and was based on a hour of racing plus 3 additional laps. Mike sprung the attack early in the race and the rest of the field had no chance as his small breakaway built a race winning lead.

Modest as ever Mike did not expect to win, but we all know when there's a prize on the line he turns into a modern day Hinault.

So, if you see Mike with his champion's jersey out on the road, give him a pat on the back as Audlem Cycling Club's first national champion.

Well done Mike.
