ED:This is the latest information from Cheshire East on the A51 closure next week

A51 London Road total road enhancement improvements

We are working to deliver major improvements on the A51 London Road through Stapeley, Walgherton and Bridgemere.

We are renewing road markings and patching part of London Road on the section between Back Lane and Checkley Lane.

Our approach to total road enhancement will mean that whilst we're here, we will undertake maintenance activities such as gully cleaning and drainage repairs. The aim of this is to address as many highways issues along this stretch of road within the closure to minimise future visits which mean further closures and therefore disruption to residents.

When is it happening?

These essential works are taking place between Monday 15 February and Friday 19 February.

London Road will be closed between the Peter Destapleigh Way / Elwood Way junction, Stapeley and the A525 in Woore to protect the safety of our workforce. The closure will be in operation between 9:30am to 3:30pm, during the February school half term holiday to ensure peak travel hours remain unaffected and disruption is minimised.

Find your alternative route

A signed diversion will be in place via the A529 and A525, also operating in reverse. We understand that access to Stapeley, Walgherton and Bridgemere may still be required. Access to properties and businesses can be arranged by our traffic marshalls. They are based at the closure points and can advise on access and egress under controlled conditions.
