The Hidden Place of Nature by Adrian Leighton

Over the past couple of years, I have written a number of articles sharing the interesting, quirky and even bizarre moments that we can experience when we spend a few moments paying attention to the natural world around us. Even the commonplace can open for us windows of delight and absorbing interest. For the most part this depends on us making full use of our senses. However, I am also aware that as we make this connection with the wild that is around us, we risk discovering a connectedness that is beyond our sensing. This may be called many things but invokes thoughts and feelings beyond words. Or if words be used then "Wow" and "Awesome" are the most popular.

For some, like myself, these thoughts of something bigger or beyond, are strongly affected by my faith and belief in a Creator. For others there is not that connection but there is still an awareness that the natural world around us is a place of relaxation and a nurturing of well-being. I have been struck by how many people have said this of walking in Turnpike Fields – which has become for them a special place.

I have been able to share this with several groups through some walks or "safaris" that I have led. I want now to take this one step further and offer a "Meditative Safari" when we will bring both our sensing and intuitive sides to connect with all that is around us. I shall be using the framework of the ancient four elements of life, Earth, Water, Air and Fire, to guide us through our walk.

This Meditative Safari will take place on SUNDAY 24th JULY at 2pm on Turnpike Fields and last about an hour. All are welcome to join us, there is no need to register beforehand, just turn up.
