30 weeks of quizzes

For 30 weeks since the beginning of lockdown (yes, it is that long ago), Ralph Warburton has organized a weekly quiz online for the 80-odd participants who used to go to the Lord Combermere on Tuesday evenings to take part in the pub quiz.

Questions are sent out by email, and answers similarly submitted by the teams 24 hours later, on their honour to use only their knowledge, not Google or other reference tools. Instead of sitting around a table in the pub, the quiz teams compile their answers by zoom, email, text, phone even. Then as lockdown eased, some were meeting in gardens and pubs.

Our heartfelt thanks go to Ralph and his many helpers who compile intriguing, challenging rounds each week, enabling us not only to exercise the old grey matter but also, and perhaps more importantly, to keep in touch with our friends and acquaintances.
