Fans and musicians have travelled many a mile to be at the Audlem Festival. The record this year, however, probably goes to one of the performers. Chris Cook, from North Carolina, and a great favourite in his homeland and here in Audlem, was a very welcome returning guest of Heavy Weather at the Shroppie Fly last night.

There was great music throughout the village last night yet, hardly surprisingly, a massive crowd was there for ever-popular favourites Heavy Weather. The band was on top form with Jim Kirkpatrick teaming up to perfection with his buddy from the USA.

We reported a couple of years ago about how the soaring guitars of Chris and Jim in the George Harrison classic When my guitar gently weeps was one of the great musical moments. The good news is that last night's rendition reached the same heights.

So much so that afterwards the general view was that it even surpassed the original, and that's getting near to musical blasphemy. These were five musicians at the top of their game and it was awesome!

Thanks, Chris, for travelling those 5,000 miles to be here for the Festival. It was a fantastic night.
