Pokemon Go -- A World First in Audlem (probably)

This might make you laugh. So we had a planning meeting at the end of last term and came up with a really great idea for Youth Club's first session back after the Summer (Samara did, to be accurate). We thought we would do a Pokemon Go competition.

The weather is still ok, we could split everyone into 3 teams, Mystic, Valor and Instinct, naturally, and pack them off around the village for an hour or so. The winners would obviously be the team with the highest value catches overall.

A done deal, session plans sorted up to Christmas, the Summer awaits.
That, of course, would be far too easy. Far too 21st century for this corner of South Cheshire. It was midway through the holidays when in an idle discussion about this plan with my 13 year old daughter it was pointed out to me that there is no 3G in Audlem. At least not in any way that would facilitate any meaningful engagement with the internet on a smart phone for longer than a nano second -- if that.

Friends, this Wednesday at 7.15pm Audlem Youth Club proudly presents the world's first analogue Pokemon Go tournament (note: overclaim disclaimer). No smart phone required for this baby, just show up and sign up for your favourite team and leave the rest to us. Necessity is the mother of invention, as they say, so be assured there WILL be Pokemon to catch!

Audlem Youth Club's first session of the Autumn term is today Wednesday 7th September, 7.15pm to 9pm at Audlem Public Hall. Subs £1, no membership necessary, everyone from Year 7 upwards welcome. We look forward to welcoming everyone back.
