A local van driver from Adderley was killed when his vehicle was in collision with a milk tanker
on the A529 Adderley Road at about 2pm yesterday.

The van driver, who was 34, was declared dead at the scene. Many in Audlem, where he was well known, were shocked last night by his tragic death.

The driver of the milk tanker had to be cut free, with firefighters removing the roof of the cab.

Chris Kowalik, a spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "The lorry driver, believed to be in his 50s, had some minor head and arm injuries and after being assessed by a doctor from the air ambulance was conveyed to North Staffordshire Hospital in Stoke by land ambulance."

The accident resulted in the closure of Green Lane and Adderley Road all afternoon and into the night.
