A very frustrated local resident recently contacted us us concerning the fact that the street lights on Woore Road near the dangerous Woore Road Bridge junction have not been operational since 4th March 2017 in spite of Cheshire East and the local Parish Council being notified.

He Writes:

The 4th March 2017

Many in Audlem will recall this was the day of the Road Traffic Accident on The Woore Road Bridge.

After months of disruption the traffic lights were removed and the bridge reopened on 12th October 2017.

A new street light column was installed replacing the one destroyed in the accident. This along with the other 4 lights on the main road and the give way sign at the Salford/Woore road junction have not worked since 4th March 2017.

The Parish Council reminded us recently how easy it is to report faulty lights; it is but it can be a frustrating waste of time.

The Woore Bridge/Street lights were formally logged on the Reporting system on the 1st June 2017 (3289893).

To this day, the official reporting system shows these lights as working and "no known problem".

An interesting statement on the Cheshire East website reads :-

Street lighting repairs

Street lighting repairs are made on a priority basis, with highest priority being given to faults presenting the greatest risk.

We are sometimes required to liaise with electricity providers to resolve a fault which can take:

Up to 20 working days for multiple faults from point of contact with the electricity provider (not the date when the fault was reported to us)

Up to 25 working days for a single fault from point of contact with the electricity provider (not the date the fault was reported to us)

--....ours is obviously not considered a priority and is one of those that takes longer.

These lights have been out for 12 months.

TODAY'S QUESTION

Who is managing this situation & When will the lights be working?

No one. And how long is a piece of string.

STOP PRESS
The local resident received this very recently – but it is apparently the fourth of this nature he has received since reporting the lights out last June!
