The Wonder of Trees

We are so blessed by the wealth of trees here in the county of Cheshire and even more so it seems down here in the Nantwich / Audlem environs- the most southerly northern town in the country.

As of late I have been driving quite a lot through country lanes. and the beauty of all the trees, mantled as they are in the glory of their summer leaf, is so wonderful. It seems to me that this year we have even bigger leaf cover and of course the superb blossoms we see at every turn of the road.

This set me to wonder – just who planted all these trees? In particular the massive oaks that fringe so many fields. How on earth did Cheshire become so graced by such a variety of tree. And perhaps of more import, who is planting the new trees to replace these that will falter as they reach their final maturity.

Let us hope that the public bodies of this fine county are thinking on such an important matter and planning the replacement of trees.

My photo of the oak was taken in Burland.
