When is a pothole a crater?

The Chatbox on Audlem Online has included numerous comments about potholes which have worsened considerably since the cold weather earlier this month.

Paddock Lane, Coole Lane and Shropshire Street near the Moseley's Yard development have all attracted comment. It appears that years of poor maintenance mean many roads are now in a dangerous condition in and around Audlem.

A local resident has sent this photograph from Salford (the 'Audlem' Salford) which raises the question of when does a pothole become a crater? The road was dug up before Christmas and work is still unfinished.

If any of the authorities – be it Cheshire East Highways, United Utilities etc – could let Audlem Online know when this road will be resurfaced, we are sure local residents in Salford will be pleased to know when they might have a road worthy of a developed economy.

Cheshire East's recently departed Highways councillor David Brickhill also made a public promise at a Cheshire joint highways meeting last January that resurfacing Coole Lane would be a Cheshire East priority.

If Cheshire East Highways could confirm if that is still the case, that news would also be of interest to local residents.
