The Ministry of Transport in London has been looking at the village's request that the A525 be deprimed. Regular readers will recall that this was a major feature of the Parish Plan and a submission to the Ministry was published on Audlem Online and approved by the Parish Council. The submission argued that the number of heavy long distance trucks, often using satellite navigation, is down to the A525 being a 'Primary Route' rather than an ordinary 'A' road.

The submission ended with the legal argument: "De-priming the A525 is the vital step that will protect Audlem from even worse problems in the future. Article 8 of the European Convention providing for the right to respect for the home has been incorporated into domestic law by the Human Rights Act. De-priming will help ensure residents' rights under that Act are upheld."

A message has been received from local MP Stephen O'Brien's office, saying: "Further to Stephen O'Brien MP's representations on your behalf, we have now received a response from the Department of Transport regarding the A525 through South Cheshire." The details, we are told, are in the post but could well have been held up by the postal strike. More news as soon as it is to hand.
