Was it the night Audlem lost any inhibitions it may still have? Previous Parties on the Park have been fantastic with a good few hundred out of the thousands partying getting up to dance.
This year it was different, all so different. A brilliant combination of compere Dave Johnson – his Dolly Parton take off was a treat – and excellent opening act Gambler got the party going with a bang. The dancing started from the off – and it went on all night.
The youngsters – and there were huge numbers there – enjoyed Only One Direction – with screams meeting them as they wowed with their harmonies.
But, it has to be said, top of the bill, The Legends, were something special, as good a tribute act as you will find anywhere. We went through so many of the great artists and hits of the last fifty years, all driven by an amazing band with a brilliant brass section, and costume changes galore.
Madonna, Elton John, Cher – and we dare only show a frontal photo of their Cher – Robbie Williams, Madness, Kylie, Amy Winehouse and a fantastic Tom Jones and Lulu finale. That list is only a taste of what was on offer – we were dancing, we have to confess, not taking notes!
This is a party band of exceptional quality, and did Audlem party. There were well over 2,000 on the field, the weather was great, the atmosphere fantastic. Everyone came to enjoy themselves and it was, beyond any doubt, the best party Audlem has ever seen.
We plan to bring you more photos, a video and even, we hope, shots from the drone that hovered over the field to the amazement of many.
It all ended with another great fireworks display by Blitz.
ASET have pulled off another phenomenal event. How many villages could lay on a party like this? Well we doubt even Audlem could without such a fantastic band of volunteers, the Audlem Special Events Team. This morning, through a somewhat fuzzy head, we take our hat off to them – they should feel very very pleased. It was quite a night!
