Audlem gained revenge for the previous weeks narrow defeat at the hands of the same opponents with a 21 run victory on Sunday at The Gorse Croft.
Audlem again won the toss and Ollie Banfield had no hesitation in electing to bat in a 35 over contest. Opener's Conor Howard ( 8 ) & David Cottrell ( retired 50 not out ) put on 42 for the first wicket to get their team off to a good start with Alfie Hardy ( 25 ), Marcus Taylor ( 21 ), Jake Topping ( 51 retired not out ) and Dave Parkinson ( 22 not out ) pushing the score on throughout the innings to a very heathy 214 for 7 at the interval.
Holmes Chapel also were off to a fine start with a half century stand between Moore and Conlon but that was to change when opening bowler Steve Neale ( 3 for 38 ) removed them both in quick succession and James Cottrell ( 3 for 18 ) took out the middle order to put the visitors on the back foot.
Fine contributions came from Totty- Gee with 35 & M. Hunter with 53 not out to keep Holmes Chapel in the game but the bowlers were in control of the situation with Richard Irvine 2 for 19 ) & Alfie Hardy ( 1 for 19 ) guiding their team to victory as the visitors closed on 193 for 9.
Next Sunday Audlem have once again been invited to be the opposition for Hodnet and Peplow CC in their President's game with a 1.00pm start at their Shrewsbury Street ground.
The previous days game didn't go to plan as Audlem fell to a 4 wicket defeat at the hands of Silverdale.
Chris Shenton ( 25 ), Irfan Shaik ( 14 ), Bertie Hardy ( 26 ) and Dave Parkinson ( 29 ) were the batsmen who contributed in the under par total of 134 not out.Audlem knew they were well short of the par score but with arguably the best bowling attack in the division were always in with a shout. A fine performance with the ball and in the field was not quite enough on this occasion as Silverdale ground their way to victory in the 38th over with Bertie the stand out bowler claiming 2 for 27 off his 8 overs.
Audlem remain at the top of the division but their advantage has been reduced to just 2 points with 7 games left to play. With no fixture next week as scheduled opponent's Stafford are using their ground for a county game with the fixture being rearranged for the following Sunday.
