Yesterday, Neil Goodyear, Mike Haines and myself braved the precipitation of the morning putting in place the now very famous Union Jacks around the village.
Arriving at The Lord Combermere, that very community minded and caring place run by Jo and Allan Brown, we sought out the pub's ladders. Nowhere to be seen, so Neil took his own from his house. Job done after a good two and a half hours.
The loss of ladders was still a mystery until CTV revealed that they had been taken between the hours of 1.00 and 6.00am on 27th April, a truly dastardly deed by a pretty awful person.
If any one has any information on the ladders' new home, do tell me. Meantime, we will have to resort to using others for the good works we carry out here – for the benefit of the village and all who visit Audlem.
A sad situation to see such underhand things happening here.
