The Village Playing Field, Tennis Courts and Children's playground.
I return to the hoary subject of the above. As you may be aware, there is a chance – offered by Cheshire East – for the village to buy the ownership of all these vital amenities for a token sum.
It's a chance I have been advocating now for many a month. It is so hard to be as we are – in the Football Club – forced to pay out close on £400 each year to use our own playing field. (See the latest invoice and our cheque in payment). This is money that comes from the players themselves and by my efforts in raising funds.
It is even more galling when you realise that Hankelow PC have secured their village green forever, having taken the decision to buy it from Cheshire East. No one can build on their lovely green!
Now, on good authority, I have news that ADAS – that very important and long established charity – dedicated to the well being of Audlem, have voted to take on the management of the said facilities should the Parish Council take up the chance to buy – and in so doing secure these amenities for all time and for the benefit of all who live here and hereabouts.
It is well noted that Audlem Parish Council is sitting on an awful lot of cash in the bank!
Wonderful news. It now remains to see whether the Parish Councillors will have the foresight and interests of the village in their deliberations and vote to go ahead with taking over what in effect is the village's anyway.
The next PC meeting is on Monday 6th October and I urge all those who have the best interests of Audlem to attend and give their voice and support for the purchase of what is, by all considerations, the village's best amenity – for young and old alike.
I will be there on the day, representing Audlem Carnival (you will recall that we now have to put up a £500 bond to use the field for the Carnival – as do other users such as ASET – to Cheshire East PLUS an admin charge!). And in the interests of Audlem Football Club.
