Village head-on crash

PC Ken Maple writes: "At 7.15pm on Monday evening two vehicles collided head on in Green Lane close to its junction with Shropshire Street. No-one was injured, but the crippled vehicles were completely blocking the carriageway until a local man found himself caught in the queue of traffic that was building up. He immediately volunteered to pop home, get his tractor and return to clear up the mess.

"Within a very short space of time he had cleared the road and freed the growing queue of traffic. The driver of one of the vehicles involved in the collision was later arrested after failing a breath test."
