A very chilled Chillinight

Due to one thing and another, not a band in sight at last Saturday's Chillinight at the Scout Hall – that just gave way to a great evening of acoustic 'plugged' live music.

Janey & Pete Marshall kicked the evening off with a classic for guitar & fiddle from Greeenday – Good riddance! or more popularly know as Time of your life which, by all accounts, held true for the evening.

Nick Drake, aka Jack Marshall, certainly captured the audience attention with a superb set that also featured Kirsty Marshall on vocals. Kirsty then became part of the trio Remain nameless though Family Marshall would have been very apt, playing some great covers and self penned numbers.

Back to a solo artist and a first appearance at Audlem for Jemma Lauren, with her own compositions. Clearly a talented singer songwriter who was well received.

Stepping in to the evening, Audlem's own Duffey Boys, who incidentally are playing at the Lord Combermere on Thursday, pulled out a few self penned numbers for an airing, before Elly Kingdon took to the stage.

Elly, one half of the much loved Hello Big World, performed with her Ukulele some of her own songs in her own imitable style. Clearly at ease with herself, she has a great talent for delivering what one described as "warm, quirky songs that just felt great". There you go!

The final 'band' of the evening saw Blue Café perform as a trio for this performance, with Alg Halliwell, Val Warner and Ian Haughey. Delivering some classic Blue Café tracks, the likes of Bristol; Regrets; Headline News; Call Me along with Val Warner's Fits Like a Glove and Ian Haughey's Pictures to a very appreciative audience – with signs of more to come from Blue Café with a full line up.

Again, a well supported event, that also supported the Fire Cadets' Ghana Project with a cake sale baked by Sam Morley, with a topical Halloween theme! Nice.
