Driving to Nantwich last night along Coole Lane I met a parked car by the cottages at the turn to Hack Green. It was black and frost covered so blending in well with the road. Without lights it was difficult to see until quite close. It was still there today.
The Highway Code says this in Law RVLR reg 24
All vehicles MUST display parking lights when parked on a road or a lay-by on a road with a speed limit greater than 30 mph (48 km/h).
However when I contacted Cheshire Police the lady I spoke to was singularly disinterested. She said it was not their responsibility and said the onus was on drivers to drive responsibly. I was only doing just over 40 at the time – much slower than many drivers on Coole Lane.
Our photo shows how the car appears to other motorists.
