This week a rumour appears to have been circulating in parts of the village that houses are to be built on Turnpike Field!!
As was re-emphasised today by Audlem Parish Council:- 'We are totally committed to protecting this green space for the benefit of Audlem's community. The only planned development is the creation of the green car park at the Shropshire Street end of the field.'
As one very concerned resident stated: 'We were all so delighted when the Parish Council bought the field and so we assumed it would definitely be kept as one of the last green spaces in the village for the future children of the village. Why can't we have wildlife areas, nature trails, a green car park to try and relieve the terrible congestion in the village, community orchards, etc. There are so many other options"
Remember that the working group are currently soliciting ideas for the field's future use and that these will be reviewed and discussed at the Open Meeting planned for February 28th- more details to follow nearer the time. Also as mentioned in AudlemOnline on Tuesday, there is a working group meeting this Thursday.
