Tomorrow's Short-ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walk is led by Jean Stainthorpe. Meet on Audlem car park at 9.30pm which means that walkers should be back in Audlem for around 1.30pm.

This is Jean's description of the walk:

Shropshire Union and Llangollen canals

A six mile flat walk from Nantwich Marina with few or no stiles: meet Audlem Public car park at 9.30am.

From Nantwich Marina (on the B5341 leaving Nantwich, on the right, opposite Dorfold Hall, just before the village of Acton), we walk two miles along the towpath beside the Shropshire Union Canal, joining the Llangollen Canal at Hurleston Junction.

We continue along the towpath to Swanley then across fields to re-join the Shropshire Union Canal for a short distance back to the Marina.

There are some stiles across the fields but it is possible to take a diversion via the A534 into Acton to avoid them.

It may be worth mentioning that, when I did the recce on Sunday, it was quite slippery underfoot due to the mud so people may like to consider using a walking pole to help avoid falling over.

The programme for 2015 Short ARS (Audlem Rambles Society) walks can be seen here.
