When Freerange ask if you want to put one of their productions on, you don't say no. The reason being, even if I was the only one to turn up, you cannot fail to be entertained with a production that will also be thought provoking, well directed and superbly performed.

As it was, I wasn't on my own, and we had two for the price of one, performances that is:

Phillippa and Will are now in a relationship

If Romeo and Juliet had used Facebook...
Phillippa and Will are students with more time for each other than their studies. As they air every developing detail of their relationship on Facebook nothing remains private.

To expand, the couple, Will, a fresher and Phillipa, a third year Student embark on a love affair that hits so many notes you cannot escape connecting with their tumultuous journey, with an ending that provoked many outcomes in the audience.

Superbly acted, from a transcript with the minimum of props, in essence a Facebook page, delivered with humour, passion and a desperation of a love affair.

'Cute, novel and heaps of fun... innovative and hilarious'. – Edinburgh Fringe Review
'Engaging, fresh and hugely entertaining, well written, and so well delivered'- Audlem's Theatre Cafe
and then on to the second performance of the evening:

The Wake

At Sir Henry's wake a heady cocktail of infidelity, jealousy and greed is served by his family. In a hilarious reconstruction of events Alec, portraying all concerned, hopes to straighten things out with his long suffering wife. Will she be convinced? Or will it make matters worse?

One actor portraying seven characters, or is that then two actors portraying the seven characters, you are skillfully drawn into this well crafted piece of theatre. How many skeletons unfold after a death in the family, with twists and turns the punch line is well disguised.

'... a sizzling piece of comic theatre.'- The Stage
'The script is unbelievably strong, not a second is wasted... simply sensational.' – Noises Off
'fast paced, well crafted theatre'- – Audlem's Theatre Cafe
Judges' Award for Comedy, National Student Drama Festival.

Both written by the talented Jon Brittain, Director Hugo Chadnor brings the performances to life with two very talented actors in Rebecca Fenwick (Spoonface Steinberg) and Adam Urey.

If the after show discussions are anything to go by the audience were well and truly entertained at the Theatre, on your doorstep folks, don't miss the next one.

In fact check out t.a.v.a. This is Saturday 14th June – The Public Hall, Audlem, who will present for one night only Francesca Millican-Slater- The Forensics of a Flat (and Other Stories).

The Forensics of a Flat (and Other Stories) has attracted great reviews:
"A rising star", Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
"Francesca Millican-Slater's warm, engaging personality shone through in her solo show about a beloved 70s flat"- A Younger Theatre

It's better than the Telly! Go on make it a night out...
