On Monday at the Audlem Parish Council meeting, the chair, Heather Jones, thanked the two retiring parish councillors, John Langston and Richard Furber, for their service on the council.
Richard Furber, she said, was a past chairman of the council, had served on numerous committees, had reported on Law & Order issues and the Audlem Burial Committee, and was the 'King of Longhill Moss', having looked after the council's interests there for many years.
He had been a parish councillor for over twenty five years.
John Langston had been responsible on the council for street lighting and also reported on Local Tourism and Business.
As there were twelve candidates for the twelve vacancies, there was a non-contested election. The new parish councillors are Bill Consterdine, who has previously served for 32 years on the council and is a past chairman, and Ann Tilling, who is new to the parish council.
There is a also vacancy as Peter Oxley, one of the twelve elected, resigned his seat immediately – see Sunday's story on AudlemOnline.
