Thank you so much to everyone who came to the Kingbur Mill open day on 26th July. It was great to have so many residents, local business owners and boaters sharing their thoughts about how the mill’s future could unfold. Many people spoke directly to us, wrote down their ideas and chatted with each other – amongst the welcome sound of prosecco corks intermittently popping.
It was also fantastic hearing so many stories about people’s connection with the mill and its occupants over the years. We’ve been sent and loaned lots of photos which chart its time as a working mill through its years as a much-loved canal shop. Its history, connection to the canal and role within the village all mean a lot to a lot of people.
We’re now taking time to go through all the written feedback that we had from the day – we had over 100 contributions, some via email and many more on the cards that we dotted around the shop floors in the mill. It was great to see people reading each other’s ideas and contributing theirs on the existing cards as well as adding their own.
Once we’ve had chance to pull it all together – including following up with the businesses and organisations that have expressed an interest – we'll be back with an update.
Until then, thank you and best wishes to all.
Di, Chris and family
(Chris and I also want to extend our thanks to our children for some excellent hosting and hospitality on the day!)
