I would like to thank the Planning Group members of Audlem Parish Council for their sterling work leading to a very competent performance by Geoff Seddon at the recent planning appeal by Gladman Developments held over seven long days at Crewe Alex F.C.
An excellent case was put forward in front of the lady Inspector for the rejection of this "opportunistic" development and Mr. Seddon's later cross-examination of several of Gladman's expert witnesses was equally incisive.
At least four members of our Parish Council represented the interests of the village on each day of the hearing and they deserve our thanks for the research which went into the preparation of the views put forward to the Inspector and the giving of their time over the seven days.
As with all these matters, the Inspector's decision hangs in the balance, but win or lose, no one could have done it better.
Many thanks are also due, to the Editor of Audlem Online, Bob Cartwright, ably aided and abetted by his cohorts John Tilling and Alvar Jones in producing at the end of each weary day, such a very witty yet informative summary of the day's proceedings.
Anyone wishing to know the thrust of each side's arguments at the Inquiry but think it would be somewhat boring reading, think again!
These amusing articles not only explain the serious business under discussion but also include the wit and put-downs (mainly coming from the barrister for Cheshire East) recorded by the Editor with his own tongue firmly in his cheek. I fully recommend them.
