Our Year 6 children have been working hard all week on their assessments this week. They completed their final tests yon Thursday and I am tremendously proud of the way they prepared for and tackled these assessments. Thanks to the staff and parents who have supported them in their preparations for these tests.
Our Year 5 children were visited by the Fire and Safety service on Tuesday to learn about a range of things such as how to prevent fire, the causes of fire, smoke alarm safety and the importance of having a fire plan.
This was a very worthwhile visit and gave the children lots of important information about how to keep safe. It was wonderful to hear Fire Officer Sarson comment on how much he had enjoyed working with the children and how knowledgeable they had all been in this session.
It was all very exciting in Sapphire Class on Tuesday afternoon as the children were paid a visit by PCSO Nick Jarvis. The children have been working closely with him to help find the 'missing' Little Red Riding Hood and were very excited when they finally got to question the main suspect 'The Big, Bad Wolf'.
Sapphire Class are currently working on 'wanted' posters to help PCSO Nick find the wolf again as he 'escaped' from class!
Amethyst class are looking forward to their next outdoor learning session this afternoon. They are going to be making camouflaged bug finders to help them secretly search for mini- beasts hidden around our school grounds. The children will also be playing a blind folded listening game. I wonder what they will hear?
This week's Praise Book children are:
Mrs Hayward's Class – Esme Hetherington Doyle
Miss Danha's Class – Alesha Wilson and Eesha Thornton Jones
Mrs Richardson's and Mr Morrey's Class – Rita Rowley
Mrs Stoker's Class – Harry Huntbach
Mr Perry's Class – Eloise Weatherstone
Mrs Bird's Class – All of Year 6!
Congratulations to you all!
The winners of our Attendance Cup this week are Amber and Pearl- well done!
Our next planned Active Audlem for parents, children and staff is next week. Relatives are invited to join us for this morning exercise next Tuesday from 8.30am – I hope many of you can join us for this.
Our football team put on a fantastic performance yesterday in their match away to Shavington Primary School. The boys played magnificently in the soaring heat and came out eventual winners in a hard fought game. Mr Perry was delighted that they not only kept a clean sheet but also won the match 2-0! He was very proud of the way the boys played the game. A brilliant performance from everyone – well done!
FASA
Don't forget that FASA will be holding their annual AGM on next week on Tuesday 17th May at 2pm in our school hall. Everyone is welcome; please join us if you can. FASA's current Secretary will be stepping down from the role at this meeting and Deborah Varley, FASA's Chair, is interested in hearing from anyone who would like to find out more about taking up this role. Please let the School Office know if you are interested in this role, so we can put you into contact with Deborah directly.
Dates for your diary!
FASA's next Film Night will be on Thursday 9th June from 5pm-7pm. Our Summer Fair will soon be with us when we return to school after the half term break. It will be held on Thursday 7th July.
ABC Childcare
I am delighted to inform you that ABC recently had their first Ofsted inspection with early years children on roll at their Audlem setting and have received a very positive report. OFSTED graded the provision as Good overall and commented:
'Staff follow children's lead in their play. They provide activities which reflect children's current interests. The environment allows children to initiate their own play indoors or outdoors. They freely make choices about what they want to play with from the well- resourced provision.'
and
'Successful partnership working exists with parents. Parents state they are extremely happy with the progress their children are making. They feel fully involved in their children's learning.'
Well done to Lynsey and her team!
You will have received a flier outlining some of the wonderful activities available at ABC over half term in school bags this week – please contact ABC on 01270 748081 to find out more.
Change of Date
A reminder that the GPS (Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation) session for parents and carers with children in Years 3 and 4 has been moved to Wednesday 18th May. This session will run from 9.10am to 10am and will include time in class with your child to observe one of these lessons in action, followed by an information meeting with Mr Perry, our English Subject Lead. Due to limited space in classrooms, all adults MUST book a place for these sessions AHEAD of Wednesday 18th.
Car Park Use
I would again, like to remind all parents that the school car park should not be used to drop off and pick up children at the beginning and end of the school day. The car park gets very congested, especially with the two school buses, and cars entering the car park at these times can compromise staff and children's safety.
Class, Team, Leavers and Group Photographs
A reminder that these photographs will be taken on Thursday next week.
Uniform
We have been contacted by several parents and our uniform supplier, School's In, regarding uniform policy clarification. I would like to remind all parents that our policy on polo shirts was reviewed, following feedback from Parent Forum, and it was agreed that both white and blue polo shorts can be worn as part of our school uniform.
Bell Ringing
There is currently room for 2 additional children to attend bell ringing training sessions on Wednesdays at 7.00pm at Audlem St James' Church. Children need to be at least 10 years old due to the height required to ring the bells. Please contact Brian Bugeja on 07940 146928 for further information.
Finally
We will be holding a Music Showcase in school later this half term – parents and carers with children who have attended choir clubs this year and/or have learnt recorders as part of our Music curriculum or have been learning an instrument with Mrs Shackleton, will have received a letter regarding this event in school bags this week. Please return your slips as soon as possible to book seats – I am sure this will be a very popular event!
