Team Dougie Mac ready to embark on the Freedom Trail Challenge

On Monday 12th September 19 members of the Freedom Trail team embarked on an epic 4 day challenge, walking 63 miles across the Pyrenees Mountains in aid of the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.

The Freedom Trail Challenge was an idea put forward by Purchasing Director Terry Stanway – who comments:

"The KMF Group and employees have achieved so much for a great cause over the years, and it was a challenge in itself to come up with the next big fundraising event. Our original aim was to try and raise £40,000 as a team for the Dougie Mac so it's a huge achievement to say we've now raised over £58,000 before we even start the challenge.

The team is made up of a number of KMF employees, as well as different team members and local businesses who have joined us along the way"

Suzi Smith, Corporate Fundraising and Events Head at Douglas Macmillan Hospice added,

"As part of the Freedom Trail team I know how much effort the team have put into fundraising and training to get us ready for our trip to the Pyrenees. The walk is set to be incredibly challenging as we need to carry around 15kg of kit each, set up our own camp site each night and prepare our meals from dehydrated food rations.

On behalf of the hospice I would like to thank the whole team, and everyone who has supported and donated so far for their ongoing support. I'm sure it will provide some much needed inspiration and motivation along the route"

All monies raised from the Freedom Trail challenge will fund specialist care and support for local people with a life limiting illness and their families.

If you would like to support the Freedom Trail team and help them reach the new target of raising £60,000 you can donate online at https://heroix.everydayhero.co.uk/event/KMF-Dougie-Mac-Fundraising/donate
