Audlem Parish Council chair Heather Jones and local Cheshire East councillor Rachel Bailey were on hand to welcome Superfast Fibre Broadband to Audlem today.

With representatives of Connecting Cheshire and BT Openreach, one of the BT boxes at Broadways junction with Cheshire Street saw a small ceremony to welcome the new service.

And if the experience of two members of the AudlemOnline webteam is anything to go by, you will be delighted with the new speeds being provided. One is now seeing a speed of 84mbps, a huge boon to his internet based business here in the village, while the other is getting 79.5 mbps.

A third member of the team is going on-stream next week although, being the least technical member of the group, and not in the slightest bit competitive, he has opted for the more modest package of 40mbps – but at half the price of his current telephone and broadband costs.

You do have to contact your Internet Service Provider as switching does not happen automatically – more on this shortly.
