As most of you will know, each year for the past 15 years or more, we in ADAS give to each child at St James' School a plantlet to grow on throughout the summer holidays.
Many and varied have been the challenges to the young gardeners over the years, and the aim is to produce very good mature plants or fruits.
Then as we enter Autumn term, the harvest is made. The sight of Minis driving to school with a huge sunflower plant has to be seen to be believed.
The upshot was a veritable mini multitude of what looked for all the world like the Triffids.
Plus this year a new target. To produce an illustrated diary of the weeks and months as the plant grew.

The children who received the prizes are:
(*It should be noted that Pip Bonnell's sunflower is over 4 metres tall)
A special award was given to Mollie Goodwin whose idea it was to have a diary and sequential photos.
Ralph Warburton
Acting Chairman.
