The Historic Boat gathering has lots of interesting stories of the boat backgrounds.

The "Elizabeth" ( second left on top row – click to enlarge) was first built in the 1880's as a horse drawn boat, and was later operated by Robert Teal Gravel Company. It was converted to a sailing cruising boat in 1936 and is probably the oldest working boat conversion. Owned by its current owners since 1966.

Coal Barges were on view and the "Swallow" which was originally a bottle boat and carried market produce from Winsford to Dunham and Castlefield.
