We often report a packed house, but St James' Church really was just about as full as it could be on Sunday night for the annual stress test of the fabric of St James' church known as the Christmas Carol Concert.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed a joint entertainment provided by Audlem Voices, the Band of the Cheshire Constabulary and the Corps of Drums who created a varied programme of carols and other Christmas music.

"O Holy Night" sung by Yvonne Parker, Jackie Thompson and Maggie Millns was well received as was Sarah Sanders' Soprano Solo, "Drink to me only".

A rousing Flugel Horn Solo Concerto by Rachel Woollam was a highlight and of course the Corps of Drums marching and playing provided their own eagerly awaited unique brand of entertainment.

The Band of the Cheshire Constabulary, conducted by David Woollam, and Audlem Voices with their Musical Director Jenny Collis-Smith and Accompanist Richard Lythall, gave the audience plenty to appreciate and sing along with.

Even the wait for David Woollam's joke was well worth it.
