Sofa delivery – through the window

Builders came to the rescue when a settee wouldn't go up the stairs at new flats over village butcher Oxtail & Trotter.

They hoisted the large sofa through the opening intended for a replacement window.

It took four builders to lift and heave the heavy settee over the fence and through the first floor window opening at the rear of the shop.

The next job is to fit new windows at the property so, presumably, owners Hugh and Kate Pocock are hoping the new tenant will be happy with a long let.

Builders have been on site since the winter converting outbuildings behind the Cheshire Street butcher shop into flats.

The couple bought the property in April 2012 and have redeveloped the former butchers with a new shop and spacious apartments.

Phase two of the exciting development is close to completion and the couple are now thinking of opening a fish counter on the premises.
