This month's Short-ARS walk on Saturday sees Audlem Ramblers Society heading for the Churnet Valley which is a little bit further away than usual but walk leader Andy Davidson says it's worth it. His description says:

Starting from Froghall Wharf (toilets there) we walk along the Caldon Canal for a short way before climbing up out of the valley (steepish climb of about 100 metres), crossing farmland and minor roads before hitting the edge of Consall Nature Park. We then descend back to the Caldon Canal and return along it to Froghall Wharf. A walk of about 5 miles.

Conditions were good on the recce but might be a bit damp and slippy in places following the recent rain. Crossing farmland so as usual any dogs need to be under control.

Froghall Wharf itself is interesting for its Industrial Heritage a flavour of which can be found here http://froghallwharf.co.uk/history.html

9.30am start from Audlem car park, 26th September, Froghall being about a 45 minute drive away.
