Saturday January 26th

Meet Audlem Car Park at 9 am.

Kate Down is leading this walk around Marbury,

The walk starts in front of the Swan at Marbury, and is a circular walk in lovely countryside of about 5.7 miles, although there is a cut off after 4 miles, for anyone wanting a shorter walk.

There is a gentle climb of about 250 feet to the top of Wirswall hill, from where there are spectacular views if it's a good day.

Underfoot, it's mostly grassy fields, tracks and quiet lanes, one short section is boggy.

There are several stiles, and our dog needed help with 3 of them.

To get to Marbury: there are signs for the Swan at Marbury from Aston as the usual road is closed – the diversion takes you through Wrenbury and is well signed, but the lanes are a bit mucky and narrow in places. An alternative route on better roads would be to go into Whitchurch and then out to Marbury. There is good parking on the road in front of the pub.

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.

Non-members of ARS are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
