Meet Audlem Car Park 9.30 am
Walk length 4.5 miles (7Km) led by Tony Crowther
We will drive to Maer village 10 miles from Audlem to park near the church then do a circular walk taking in lanes, fields, bogs, farm tracks and woodland.
We commence the walk along a lane for about 1 mile from Maer towards Standon. We then cut across fields on a footpath up to a trig point (162m). Views over Shropshire and Staffordshire as far South as Cannock Chase on a good day!! Descending over 2 stiles through Shortwood Farm we come to a narrow lane, then a farm track then fields to descend to the bog and stream! After crossing the bridge we go up hill across fields, tracks and woods to return down to Maer through a wooded snowdrop/bluebell glade with great views of the church!!!
This walk is not to be missed even though it is February! It is getting lighter and there is a large variety of birds to be spotted!
Please note some parts of the walk are extremely boggy so good footwear is essential.
Dog friendly but they will come back one colour only--------- Black!!
A total of 5 stiles
Return to Audlem village 12.30 to 1.00pm
Please bring coffee etc and snacks for dogs and leader!
NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
Non-members of ARS are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
