The September Short-ARS is on Saturday September 24th. It will be led by Tony Crowther, and is mainly in the grounds of Erddig Hall.
We meet at Audlem car park at 9am to travel the 25 miles to Erddig mainly on the A525. We will be back to Audlem at about 1pm.
The walk starts from Erddig Hall main car park which is a National Trust property. Car parking is free.
The route is 4 miles (plus an optional extra half mile to visit the Keepmoat fort remains from 1071), on paths, tarmac drives, one field and a 500 yard lane stretch. Most of it is within the grounds of Erddig Hall.
Parts of the walk follow a river and there are some forest tracks. It should still be dry underfoot and the route is mainly flat with the exception of one steep 400 yard climb up a lane.
The leaves are starting to turn so plenty of colour abounds and several birds were spotted.
There is the additional bonus of a visit to the fort at the end of the walk and also for National trust members they can visit the hall.
NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped
