The next short-ARS walk will take place on Saturday February 26th.

This walk is essentially a repeat of one we almost did in the Hanchurch Hills in May last year – but this time we will take the right option at the critical point and hopefully complete the intended route!

Those who were there last time may remember a rare sighting of a cuckoo in the woods.

The walk is just over five miles in length with one short climb. The route is mainly along paths or gravel tracks although at one point there is a mile along a very quiet road.

The way leads through the woods over Hanchurch Hills and across open countryside with panoramic views. We also go through the village of Hanchurch and past the Hanchurch Pools.

Since the route is basically a figure-of-eight circuit there are several points where people can opt out without doing the full five-and-a-bit miles.

We meet at 9.30am in the main car park. It takes about half an hour to drive from there to the parking area beside the Hanchurch Hills picnic site, the starting point for the walk.

The walk will be led by John Tilling and Bob Cartwright.
